Reggae has experienced a revival in recent years. It has not gained favor in the pop arena, but there are a number of bands coming out of the island that are producing hot new sounds. The music is bright, brassy and happy. It does not have the swing rhythms favored by many of the ska punk bands. It has lyrics that are considerably more violent than the lyrics favored by the American ska punk bands. If a person likes reggae, he needs to pay attention to the new bands that are coming from the islands. If he does not like the sound, he can safely remain ignorant of the new bands from Jamaica.

Formed in 2007 around D.H., Nikki and Slim, True Window has taken the music world by storm since their initial inception.

Often described as being equivalent to walking down a farm-to-market road on a foggy morning just before day breaks, their unique blend of aural surrealism and emotional ballads create a haze of both melancholy and intrigue in the mind of the listeners.

After a few gigs featuring some incredible performances it became official and on November 2010 it was announced that True Window had signed to the New York-based Kemado Records.

What does this mean for the band? Will their music suffer for the difference? Members of the blossoming, co-ed trio shout “absolutely not.” Their ballads will continue to be just as haunting, just as eerie, just as beautiful and maybe twice as surreal, and, as a bonus, even more people will get the chance to know True Window.

Lady Antebellum consists of two lead singers, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, along with Dave Haywood. They create harmony that’s amazing to hear, and rare for a band who’s members are not related. Hillary and Charles share co-lead vocals. Their self titled debut album went double platinum, and sophomore album “Need You Now” is a triple platinum seller.

Formed in 2006, they started out writing for others, then it discovered that they had such a unique sound, that they could make it as vocalists in their own right. Their current big hit is called “Own The Night.”

The Band Perry is comprised of siblings, Kimberly and her brothers, Neil and Reid Perry. They have received a recent ACM award for “New Artist Of The Year,” and CMA awards for single, song and “New Artist Of The Year.”

Their self titled debut is extremely successful, with their biggest hit single “If I Die Young” receiving both single and song CMA awards. They’re definitely a band to watch with a bright future.

The Zac Brown Band is comprised of Zac Brown (lead singer and guitar), John Hopkins (Bassist), Jimmy De Martini (violinist), Coy Bowles (Guitarist and organist), Chris Fryar (Drummer) , John Mayer and Clay Cook, both multi instrumentalists, with Clay adding songwriting talent as well.

Their first album, “The Foundation,” yielded five number one hit singles, and their second album released in 2010 is titled “You Get What You Give.” This album features duets with Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett. Stellar musicianship and high energy shows make this a band to watch.

Iceage, New Brigade – One of the more intense bands out there, this debut album brings you back to original punk that made a statement. Best tracks are “Broken Bone” and “White Rune.”

Handsome Furs, Sound Kapital – More pop than metal, but bring you to life. On the track “Repatriated” there is a resonating feeling of re-birth. This is where music is headed.

All Time Low, Dirty Work – Songs like “Time Bomb” and “I Feel Like Dancin’,” although somewhat scattered with no real direction, bring any party to life. Dirty Work is their fourth album and is already a Top 10 hit.
